Internship Opportunities

SMITH HAYES Financial Services Corp. offers college students the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the securities industry through its internship program. A regional securities brokerage firm, SMITH HAYES specializes in individual investment advice, employer-sponsored retirement plans, and municipal bond underwriting. Headquartered in Lincoln, the company has offices in Omaha and Columbus with a total of about 100 employees.

In addition to general securities industry exposure, interns at SMITH HAYES can gain insight and experience in the functions that support the firm's 40 investment consultants, including accounting, operations, compliance, qualified plan administration, marketing, facilities management and human resources. Many of those who have participated in the program have parlayed the experience into full-time employment with the firm.

Opportunities are available in the Lincoln and Omaha offices. Interns must have completed their sophomore year. Depending on the applicant's college or university, course credit for internships may be available. All internships are paid and last a minimum of one semester. Interns may have the option of continuing beyond that period.

Assistant Branch Administrator

SMITH HAYES Financial Services Inc. has an immediate full time position for an Assistant Branch Administrator. This position is responsible for reviewing various reports and work product for the sales force in the Lincoln branch and Independent Representatives. Detect and prevent violations of industry rules and regulations and Firm policies/procedures applicable to all product sales to retail clients. Provide a leadership role for the registered assistants and assist the Independent Representatives with administrative functions. Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business/Finance; Series 7 preferred; strong attention to detail; exceptional human relations skills and be able to multi-task.
