Investment Consultant Biography

John Decker John joined Smith Hayes in 1996 as an intern while attending the University of Nebraska where he earned a BS in Economics and an MBA (with high distinction). His role at Smith Hayes grew to consist of managing the investment banking department as VP of Public and Corporate Finance. John led financing projects including underwriting municipal bonds, leases, securitizations, private placements for growth companies, and M&A and consulting assignments. In 2002, John joined Douglas Theatre Co. as CFO and was in charge of overseeing and financing capital improvement projects, acquisition and disposition of real property assets, executing the buyout of a 50% shareholder group and managing the sale of the enterprise to The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS) in April 2008. In May 2008, John rejoined SMITH HAYES as Vice President and is currently engaged in managing and growing the sales team, seeking areas for continued revenue growth, working as part of the executive management team and is active in various corporate finance projects for the firm. John is a shareholder and director of Center Associates, LLC, a Nebraska-based real estate development company. He serves as Coordinating Consultant for the Nebraska Angels, Inc., which seeks capital investments in early-stage high growth companies. His other board engagements include: Bryan LGH Enterprises, Inc., Downtown Lincoln Association, and Invest Nebraska, Inc. John is also a 2008 graduate of the Nebraska Chamber’s Leadership Nebraska program.
