Unit Investment Trusts (UIT)

A Unit Investment Trust (UIT) is a registered trust which invests in equity or fixed, income-producing securities. Typically, the trust holds a fixed portfolio of professionally selected investments until it is liquidated at a prespecified date or the securities mature. Shares in the trust are purchased and sold by investors.

The main difference between a UIT and a mutual fund is that a mutual fund is actively managed, while a UIT is not. Many investors choose this investment because they prefer to know in advance what securities will be held and the interest yield to expect.

Your investment return and principal value will fluctuate. Your shares may be worth more or less than the original investment when redeemed.

Unit Investment Trusts are offered and sold by prospectus. Please obtain a prospectus and read carefully before investing.
